In two games this season, Salisbury downed Lower Macungie by a combined score of 20-2. The good news is that some believe the third time is the charm and Lower Mac gets a third shot at Salisbury in the first round of the Lehigh Valley Legion playoffs.

The Emmaus Legion team stretched out its season not just to the final day, but to an extra one-game playoff against West Allentown for the final spot in the Lehigh Valley Legion postseason.

Unfortunately for the Hornets, West Allentown proved to be too much and beat Emmaus 7-2 to grab the eighth and final playoff spot.

Emmaus forced the one-game playoff by gaining a split in a pair of games with Fullerton Saturday.

The first game was a resumption of a suspended game from...

Hornets improve to 5-2 with win over Warren

Wednesday, July 10, 2013 by CJ HAMERLY Special to the Press in Sports

The Emmaus boys soccer team ended last season as District 11 runners-up and Lehigh Valley Conference champions.

Those feats were accomplished in large part thanks to a core group of seniors. AJ Bishop, Adam Kita, and Ben Roda combined for 29 goals, and Kevin Fine was in goal for 14 shutouts and 53 career wins.

Head coach John Cari is sad to see that class go, but knows he still has talent waiting to blossom. Last year around this time, that Emmaus team won the Lehigh Valley...

Emmaus' still holds postseason hopes

Tuesday, July 2, 2013 by CHUCK HIXSON Special to the Press in Sports

For the Emmaus Legion team, it's been a matter of too little, too late pretty much all season long. Sunday presented a perfect case-in-point when West Allentown jumped out to a 6-0 lead before the Emmaus bats went to work mounting a comeback. In the end, Emmaus dropped an 8-5 decision.

"That's pretty much what we've been doing all season," said Emmaus coach Mike Anderson. "We can't do anything early in the game and then when we do start to hit, we're already in a hole."

Marcks and the rest of the Lehigh Valley team got a reprieve as they were about to warm up for their second game of the double...

Wednesday, June 26, 2013 by CHUCK HIXSON Special to the Press in HS Sports

Charlie Barebo is coming off a successful baseball season at Notre Dame (Green Pond), playing for a team that finished second in District 11. Now, Barebo is spending his summer with the Emmaus Legion team, honing his craft even more.

"It was a great experience to play on a team that did that well," said Barebo, who will be a junior at Notre Dame next school year.

Living in the East Penn School District but attending Notre Dame is quite a commute for Barebo, but it's one that he...

All-Star pitcher Tyler Sterkenberg (3-0) started against West Allentown and got hit around for three runs in the first inning before settling in. In fact, he settled in so well that his opponents had to think of some way...
