The school year has just started, but the Emmaus girls soccer team opened the year with a test when it went up against District 1 power Council Rock North and battled the Indians to a 1-1 tie in regulation.

The Lady Hornets put themselves on the scoreboard quickly when freshman midfielder Reilly McGinnis scored her first varsity goal just 2:31 into the contest, with an assist from senior Alyssa Guthrie. McGinnis played all 80 minutes of the game and coach Rob Rooney was impressed with...

Heading in to the season-opening tri-match with Northampton and Easton at Riverview Country Club, the Emmaus golf team saw it as a must win situation against the Konkret Kids. To help the team to victory, senior Carlos Fullerton knew that his game needed to be on par.

Luckily for the Green Hornets, it turned out to be actually seven strokes under par.

Fullerton tore up the tricky course that includes 76 bunkers and five ponds scattered throughout 18 holes. Fullerton carded a 65...

Pete's Top-10 Parkland moves to the top

Wednesday, September 4, 2013 by PETER CAR in HS Sports

So, what did we learn from week one of football? Well, one thing for sure is that there are a lot of bad teams out there. On the bright side, Dieruff has improved and that should give fans on the East Side a feel-good story.

Whitehall came away with the most surprising win last week, while Liberty kicked off the John Truby era with a big win.

Major showdowns across the board in the LVC and Colonial League this week make for an interesting poll.

On the schedule it shows that the Emmaus Green Hornets will host Bethlehem Catholic on Friday with a 7pm kickoff.

However, according to head coach Randy Cuthbert, the Green Hornets will be competing against themselves.

This is the first...

Emmaus lets 15-point lead slip away in fourth quarter

Wednesday, September 4, 2013 by MIKE HAINES in HS Sports

When the Hornets had all their starters on the field and were playing mistake-free football, they were clearly as good, if not better than Pennridge in a very evenly-matched season opener.

But when they committed penalties or had players leave the field with cramps, it was just enough to tip the scales toward the Rams.

After building a 15-point lead in the first half and holding onto that margin into the fourth quarter, Emmaus saw it's entire lead slip away over the final 6:34...

After rain washed out its opening match against Easton, the Emmaus tennis team had to wait a few extra days to get the season under way. But now that things have started, the Hornets are on a roll.

They've opened the season with three conference wins, including one over Northampton, which not only beat Emmaus in the regular season last year, but knocked the Lady Hornets out of the District 11 Tournament.

Emmaus has started its season with wins over Liberty (6-1), Freedom (5-2)...

Friday night the Pennridge football team will be stepping on to the football field in Perkasie.

Both of those events have happened often in the last few years when Randy Cuthbert was the Rams' head coach. It will be a bit different this Friday as Cuthbert will be taking the field as head coach of the Emmaus football.

"It is going to be unusual for sure," said Cuthbert. "I left for personal...

With half of her college field hockey career still in front of her, Ally Evans has already accomplished more than most players could hope for in a four-year collegiate career.

The 2011 Emmaus graduate helped her team to a national title last year while making an All Ivy League team for the second straight year at Princeton University.

The junior striker heads into her third season hoping to continue the success she's enjoyed over her first two years.

"I'm definitely...

When Carly Lenett was just three years old, she was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Now, Carly is eight and she has learned to handle the disease and even monitor her blood sugar and operate her insulin pump all with only minimal supervision.
