Q: What grade are you in?

A: I am currently a senior at Emmaus High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: I think my favorite subject has to be AP physics, which is a calculus based physics class. I enjoy the ability to work through the difficult problems presented in the course. I also enjoy the class environment due to the fact that everyone taking the course also enjoys the subject material.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

Pageant season is in full swing. Whether audiences watched the Miss America pageant or enjoy the TLC series Toddler's and Tiaras, everyone seems to love a little friendly competition, including 11 brave Emmaus senior boys.

On Jan. 30, the Student Government Association held their second annual "Mr. Emmaus" competition in the Emmaus High School auditorium. The audience was comprised of students and parents anxiously waiting to see the boys "strut their stuff" on the stage.

Feb. 6

The Lincoln Elementary School PTO will meet 9 to 9:30 a.m. in the principal's conference room at the school.

Lincoln Elementary School students in grades three through five will be taking PSSA writing field tests.

Feb. 7

Wescosville Elementary School will hold a PTO sponsored Smencil sale 8:40 to 8:55 a.m. at the school.

Eyer Middle School will have an 11 a.m. dismissal for parent teacher conferences.

Lower Macungie Middle School will have an 11 a.m. dismissal for parent teacher conferences.

Wescosville Elementary School will hold a PTO meeting in the school's cafe 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The Emmaus Student Government Association will hold a "Mr. Emmaus" competition 7 to 10 p.m. in the EHS auditorium.

Jan. 31

Willow Lane Elementary School will hold crazy hair day.

Willow Lane Elementary School will hold a second grade incredible assembly 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the school.

Lower Macungie Middle School ski club will participate in a ski trip 2:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I am a senior at Emmaus High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite subjects are my music courses, which include Symphonic Band, Esquire Jazz Band, Chorale, Women's Choir and AP Music Theory. In these classes, I can express myself through music while improving my technique. I especially enjoy the performance aspect of music.

Rockin' for a good cause

Rocking out for a good cause, students at Eyer Middle School came together Jan. 18 for the annual Rock-a-thon event to raise money to help fund a beach house for children and their families going through cancer treatments.

Educators Beth Witte, Wellness and Fitness, and Kelsey Torpey, World History, organized the 2013 Rock-a-thon event.

This year, Eyer Middle School raised a total of over $17,000.

"This is the most we have ever raised," Witte said, "I'm excited."

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I am a senior at Emmaus High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite subject is tied between art class and AP physics class. I like physics because I enjoy solving problems and learning how the world works. However, I also love to express myself through various art projects.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: I am currently a member of National Honor Society. Last year, I was inducted into the French Honor Society. I received an award for academic excellence in French IV.
