Aggravated assault

Brandon John Gushue, 25, of Lower Macungie Township, was charged with alleged aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment after he allegedly struck a state trooper in the mouth and face area at a residence in the 4000 block of Mountain Road, Lower Macungie Township, 1:30 a.m. May 3. State troopers responded to the residence for a check on the welfare of a resident, according to police. Gushue allegedly became agitated and swung a closed fist, striking the trooper. The trooper sustained minor injuries. Charges were filed, accounting to court documents.

Allentown man faces charges in 10 robberies

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin announced May 10 an Allentown man has been charged in relation to 10 robberies, including one in Emmaus, which occurred between Nov. 26, 2016 and May 1.

Cane Singleton, 23, of 662 Sherman St., Allentown, is charged with 10 counts each of robbery and conspiracy, both felonies of the first degree. Singleton currently is incarcerated in Lehigh County Jail on unrelated charges. He was to be arraigned through Central Booking.

Simple assault

Julio Cesar Acosta Jr., 38, of Allentown, was charged with simple assault after he allegedly struck a 53-year-old male, of East Texas, when a verbal altercation escalated in the 3800 block of Allen Street, Upper Milford Township, 10 p.m. May 3. According to state police, the 53-year-old male was a passenger in a ride share vehicle Acosta allegedly was driving. As Acosta was driving the 53-year-old male to his residence a verbal altercation ensued inside the vehicle. Acosta pulled his vehicle over and the passenger exited the vehicle.

Disorderly conduct

Jacob Thomas Toney, 21, of Zionsville, was arrested for alleged disorderly conduct May 4 in the 1000 block of Broad Street following a traffic stop. A citation was filed, according to police and court documents.

A 16-year-old female, of Allentown, was arrested for disorderly conduct April 19 after she engaged in a fight at Emmaus High School. A citation was filed, according to police.

Seat belt enforcement initiative through June 4

EMMAUS POLICE

The Emmaus Police Department will participate in a national “Click It or Ticket” seat belt initiative through June 4.

The effort will focus largely on nighttime enforcement, between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m., using traffic enforcement zones and roving patrols, according to police. Police will also use traffic enforcement zones, which combine stationary enforcement and checkpoint tactics on roadways with high numbers of unbuckled crashes. Citations will be issued to motorists who are caught unbuckled or transporting unrestrained children.

Aggravated assault

An Alburtis man faces charges of aggravated and simple assault and harassment after he allegedly pointed a handgun at two people and struck a man in the face with a gun.

According to a criminal complaint prepared by borough police, Stephen Charles Baumann, 40, of the 200 block of South Main Street, pointed a medium sized silver semi-automatic handgun at two people the evening of May 3. He also allegedly struck one person, a male, in the face with the muzzle of the gun, “causing bodily injury.”

Simple assault

Gerald Keating, 45, of Emmaus, was arrested May 7 in the 300 block of Minor Street and charged with alleged simple assault and harassment after a dispute. He was transported to the Lehigh County Booking Center for processing.

Robby Lee Faust, 28, of Macungie, was arrested April 26 along South Sixth Street and charged with suspicion of driving under the influence, driving without a license, driving with an expired inspection and a red light violation. He was transported to the Lehigh County Booking Center for processing.

Access device fraud

A male resident of Cottonwood Court, Lower Macungie Township, reported unknown actors took possession of his credit card information, without his consent and used his information to complete three transactions totaling approximately $1,100 between March 30 and April 1.

A resident of the 3900 block of Larkspur Drive, Lower Macungie Township, reported an unknown actor removed change from the center console of the vehicle overnight April 27.

Aggravated assault

Kyle Thomas Armbruster, 27, of Allentown, was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly attacked two EMS workers in an incident in the 8200 block of Spring Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 12:33 p.m. March 22. According to police, the EMS workers attempted to give aid to Armbruster. He allegedly physically assaulted both workers, causing a concussion and other physical injuries. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
