A driver was injured July 5 when his minivan was struck by a Norfolk Southern train in Lower Macungie Township.
In a brief phone interview July 9, a Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Jeremy Trooper said the driver, whose name has not yet been released, suffered minor injuries, including bruising and was taken to a hospital for treatment but is now home.
Temple described the minivan as “demolished” by the train. It was struck in the rear as it crossed in front of the train.
The driver was the only occupant of the minivan and no one was injured on the train, Temple said.
A Montgomery County man died of natural causes in a traffic accident in Upper Milford Township July 14.
In a media release from the Lehigh County Office of the Coroner and Forensic Center, officials announced an autopsy completed July 14 revealed Robert W. Rutty, 55, of Perkiomenville, died of natural causes.
Rutty, according to authorities, was the operator of a tractor trailer which left the roadway and struck a retaining wall in the 4200 block of Chestnut Street, Upper Milford Township, around 6:36 a.m. July 14.
Rutty was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:19 a.m.
A resident in the 6000 block of German Road, Upper Milford Township, reported someone entered the basement of the residence and removed a black safe on wheels between June 22 and 24. The resident reported seeing a male on his property who was driving a white truck June 22. Alfred Dewey Neff III, 66, of Emmaus, was arrested June 19 for allegedly driving under the influence in the 500 block of North Sixth Street. He was transported to Lehigh County DUI Center for processing. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
A Lower Macungie Township woman died from a head injury, according to authorities.
In a media release from the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensics Center dated July 6, Scott R. Grim, coroner, stated an autopsy revealed the cause of death of Desiree J. Wien, 58, of the 2700 block of Rolling Green Place, Lower Macungie Township, was to be attributed to complications from a head injury. The manner of death was said to be pending additional forensic testing and completion of the investigation.
Joshua W. Soffa, 29, of Boyertown, was arrested June 16 for suspicion of driving under the influence and a traffic light violation after allegedly failing to stop for a red signal at South Sixth and Chestnut streets. He was transported to Lehigh County DUI Center and processed. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
Matthew A. Neetz, 37, of Emmaus, was arrested June 28 for theft after allegedly removing a Schwinn bicycle from a porch. The bicycle was valued at $150. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
Allan G. Buck, 32, of Allentown, is charged with allegedly driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a vehicle stop in the 100 block of West Main Street June 26. He was transported to central booking where he was arraigned. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
Albert George Morris Jr., 40, of Emmaus, was arrested June 15 for simple assault and harassment after allegedly being involved in a domestic dispute in the 900 block of Broad Street, according to police. He was transported to Lehigh County Booking Center and processed. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
Joseph Robert Davies, 24, of Emmaus, was arrested June 23 for alleged possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police. He was transported to Lehigh County Booking Center and processed. Charges were filed, according to court documents.
An unknown actor removed a white Giant bicycle with an orange bag valued at $500 from a location in the 200 block of North First Street. The incident was reported June 14.
Anthony Ordonez, 25, of Allentown, was arrested May 13 in the 500 block of State Road for allegedly driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, speeding and failure to drive within his lane.
