Overturned gasoline tanker closes road

Firefighters from Lower Macungie and Macungie fire departments work to clean the scene of an overturned gasoline truck on Mountain Road in Lower Macungie Township Aug. 10. The original call was received shortly before 9 a.m. for an overturned gasoline truck blocking both lanes of Mountain Road just past Gehman Road. The Emmaus Main Street Partners and The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce are negotiating an agreement to partner as part of the Main Street Initiative of the chamber.

Former Police K-9 'Ajax' remembered for contributions to community

Emmaus Police Department Chief David Faust has announced the passing of former Police K-9 Ajax.

K-9 Ajax was a male German Shepherd imported from the Czech Republic and was handled by K-9 Officer Craig J. Blose.

Faust said Ajax was cross-trained for patrol duties and narcotics. He dutifully served the Emmaus Police Department for seven years, six months having retired from active duty with honor in 2009. He died June 18.

Ryan Harrington is exited to get in step with the cadence of the Emmaus High School marching band as the new director.

Harrington is preparing for his role of band director and instrumental teacher at EHS after three years as the assistant band director under Bruce Denmead and eight years as director of instrumental music at Moravian Academy. He is a graduate of Temple University.

Harrington is getting organized for a highly anticipated marching season with a "Beatlemania"...

Ryan Spear, 40, of Easton, was arrested for DUI on Kings Highway approximately .25 miles south of Beck Road, Upper Milford Township, 10:18 p.m. July 20. Spear was allegedly under the influence when his vehicle impacted a utility pole. The pole had a split in it and was laying in the northbound lane as a result of the accident.
