Community mourns the loss of fire victims

With the announcement from the Lehigh County Coroner March 19, the Emmaus community learned the names of the four fire victims and began the process of mourning.

Perished in the fire March 17 were Montana Twining, 16, Melissa A. Twining, 48, David Jenkins Jr., 65, and Lena Maria Adamo, 56.

Services were held for Montana, Melissa and Jenkins March 24 at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus.

Services for Adamo were held March 24 in Garfield, N.J.

The Allentown Music Club is offering a $1,000 Past President's Assembly scholarship to a high school senior who resides in Lehigh or Northampton counties.

The student must be accepted at an accredited institution and be pursuing music performance. Application deadline is April 10.

To the Editor:

Has your paper discussed the tax free bond subsidy to Costco at Hamilton Crossing? This should be a worthy subject for all the Tea Party voters in our area.

The subsidy has not been approved yet or bonds sold.

Little is mentioned but I believe the end result is the developer is receiving funds from tax free bonds. It is a crime. The development should stand on its own without a tax subsidy.

The Lehigh Valley Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator(s) who committed the crimes of four felony counts of terroristic threats and four counts of misdemeanor 2, institutional vandalism.

The Emmaus Police Department continues to investigate numerous bomb threats which occurred Feb. 21, Feb. 26 and March 16 in the East Penn School District, Emmaus.
