The Allentown Music Club is offering a $1,000 Past President's Assembly scholarship to a high school senior who resides in Lehigh or Northampton counties.

The student must be accepted at an accredited institution and be pursuing music performance. Application deadline is April 10.

While Macungie Borough Council is continuing to look into the costs and benefits of a loan versus a bond for capital financing projects, it's still in early stages. Council president Chris Becker said they are doing the right thing in being prudent and taking their time. Council member Joe Sikorski continued to urge council to consider a loan because of low interest rates, but Jean Nagle questioned the plausibility of paying on a million dollar loan.

Shawnquan Davis, 21, of Charlotte, N.C., was arrested for DUI on Interstate 78 westbound at mile marker 61, Upper Saucon Township, 1:16 p.m. March 26. Davis was allegedly under the influence of a controlled substance. Terry Lewis, 22, of Charleston, W.Va., was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with paraphernalia as a result of this traffic stop.
