Lehigh County TRIAD kicked off their first meeting of the new season Sept. 11 with an update on local crime by Judge Douglas G. Reichley.
"The level of crime within the county over the last five years has stayed the same," Reichley said, which may be a surprising fact to some.
Warren Miller, queen bee breeder and president of the Pennsylvania State Beekeepers Association, will share his experiences keeping bees without mite treatments at the 7 p.m. Sept. 20 Lehigh Valley Beekeepers meeting at the Lehigh County Ag Center, 4184 Dorney Park Road, South Whitehall.
The meeting is open to the public.

The East Penn School District will be celebrating Constitution week for the remainder of the week.
Eyer Middle School will hold meet the teacher night 6 to 8 p.m. at the school.
Lincoln Elementary School will hold meet the teacher night 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the school.
Macungie Elementary School will hold meet the leader night for parents to meet teachers 6:30 p.m. at the school

A show of presidential woodcuts, never before seen in Pennsylvania, is on display weekdays through Sept. 21 at the Rotunda, City Hall, 10 E. Church St., Bethlehem.
The works, by artist Joe Illick, include all the presidents of the United States.
Raised near Coopersburg, he graduated from Bethlehem High School and earned a Ph.D. in American history from the University of Pennsylvania. He studied art and taught at San Francisco State University. He also taught at both Lehigh and Lafayette Universities.

Lehigh County Commissioner Daniel McCarthy withdrew a bill he sponsored to put forth funding from the community revitalization grant program at the Sept. 12 commissioners meeting.
The bill would have granted the Borough of Emmaus and Whitehall Township $15,000 each to establish a revolving loan program for new businesses.

The D&L Trail Alliance will host the Eastern Pennsylvania Greenways and Trails Summit Sept. 19 and 20 at the DeSales University, University Center, 2755 Station Ave., Center Valley. The summit will focus on planning, building and promoting local and regional trails and greenways across eastern Pennsylvania.
