Via's Teen Summer Experience program, which runs June 17 to Aug. 23, is now open for registration. Attendees will have opportunities to participate in a range of activities including job shadowing, career counseling, volunteer activities in a variety of settings and a series of recreational and team-building activities.
The staff works individually with each teen and their family to develop educational, recreational and vocational goals.The goals focus on individual interests of the teen and preparing them to transition to adult life.
Nearly 50 elementary school age Cub Scouts from the Trexler District of the Minsi Trails Council who have placed in their local races gathered March 2 for the "The Big Race" to see who fashioned the fastest car made from a block of pinewood.
The event was held at the Mack Customer Service Center behind the Queen City Airport off Lehigh Street in Allentown.
Scouts from eight Cub Packs and family members from the Trexler District of the Minsi Trails Council of Boy Scouts of America participated in the annual derby event.
Kayla Springer, of Allentown, graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts in communication. Springer was also named to the dean's list for her final semester.
The Lehigh County Commissioners tabled a bill that would extend the charter of the Lehigh County Authority at its Feb. 27 meeting.
The LCA's charter, which currently expires in 36 years, needs to be extended an additional 14 years in order for the authority to bid on the proposed 50-year lease for Allentown's water.

Abigail Eichorn, of Allentown, was named to the dean's list. Eichorn is a freshman majoring in television and radio.
Gina Echevarria, of Allentown, was named to the dean's list. Echevarria is a freshman majoring in humanities and sciences.
Danielle Zickl, of Macungie, was named to the dean's list. Zickl is a sophomore majoring in writing.
Dr. Terrence Roberts, who was one of the "Little Rock Nine," the first group of black students to be formally integrated into a white school, visited Penn State Lehigh Valley Feb. 27 in honor of Black History Month.
Amy Glasser, of Allentown, was named to the University of Hartford dean's list.
At their Feb. 27 meeting, Operations Manager Christopher Greb of Macungie Ambulance Corps advised Alburtis Borough Council the Corps received two awards in 2012.
They received the "Eastern PA EMS Council's Gold Standard of Excellence" award and the "Cares" award.
"Out of 88 [Ambulance Corps] services, four received this award and we were one of them," Greb said of the Gold Standard of Excellence award.

The forum was led by David Miller II, of Macungie, author of "Time Birds" and "A Gift of Love" on the Lutheran Home of Topton.
Francis J. Waller, Ph.D. of Lower Macungie, attended with questions on publishing. He has written various books on chemistry.
Pat Waller, of Lower Macungie, a writer of articles for the National Association of Biology Teachers, also attended.
