Central Catholic column CCHS to hold tuition raffle

The Central Catholic Administration will be holding a free tuition raffle for the class of 2017.

All eighth grade students who submit their complete application and registration fee by Feb. 2, 2013 will be automatically entered into the drawing. Put the Jaindl land debate to a ballot

To the Editor:

In a recent court hearing regarding development of the farmland around Spring Creek Road in Lower Macungie Township, Joe Zator (Jaindl's attorney) was reported saying, "My client isn't going away.

"This property is going to be developed. It's just a matter of time. A half-dozen residents can persist as long as they want, but development will occur."

Theater group to perform

Players of the Stage, a community theater group for local students that aims to glorify God through the art of drama is taking to the stage once again this holiday season to perform "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" 7 p.m. Nov. 29, Dec. 1, 6, 7, and 8 and 2 p.m. Dec. 1 and 8 at Living Hope Presbyterian Church, 330 Schantz Road, Allentown.

This heartwarming Christmas classic is about less-fortunate children who find their way into a church building to get dessert and end up taking control of the small town's Christmas pageant.

Tickets are free but reservations are required.

Centennial Queen sought

Every year, Alburtis bestows the honor of "May Day Queen" on a high school senior who is recognized at the annual Lockridge May Festival during the Lockridge Theatre Group's Renaissance performance at the Lockridge Furnace property ruins.

This year the May Day Queen will go down in history as the Alburtis Centennial Queen. This year's May Festival is being held May 12, 2013 as part of Alburtis' 100th birthday celebration.

LOWER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Greenway Plan approved

The long awaited plan for a trail system has been approved by the Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners.

Better known as the Greenway system, it is a system of trails within the township and neighboring communities, mostly along the Swabia and Little Lehigh Creek areas. Commissioners said this is just the beginning; additional information will be forthcoming. A lot of credit was given to Planning Director Sara Pandl for her work on this. Scott Alderfer, from the Environmental Advisory Council, said this plan will help to increase property values within the township.

Send your most comforting family recipes to Macungie Fire Company No. 1, 31 South Walnut St., Macungie, to be selected for a fundraising cookbook.

The cookbook will be compiled in the second week of December.

All proceeds from "Recipe for Success" will be donated to the family of Jason Labowski, an Emmaus High School graduate who was injured in a devastating automobile accident Oct. 3.

Labowski suffered major injuries from the crash and is still in intensive care.
