Pa. State Police present biannual report

Pennsylvania State Police Commander Lt. Paul Gaspich presented the biannual report for Lower Macungie Township at the meeting Feb. 21.

The report notes an increase in DUI arrests which shows troopers are proactive and have increased their awareness of DUI offenses,

Gaspich said there is increased activity in gang offenses, terrorism and drug activities.

Police report the Latin Kings have body armor, one of which had a slug in it.

Emmaus Anniversary Gallery preserves artifacts for future generations

The Emmaus Anniversary Gallery was dedicated and opened for viewing during a celebratory gathering at Emmaus Borough Hall Feb. 19.

The Emmaus Arts Commission, members of Emmaus Borough Council and borough employees unveiled the collection of artwork and memorabilia showcasing some of the rich history in the borough.

Visitors to borough hall will now be greeted by the limited edition prints of the original artwork used for the Emmaus Christmas cards sold during the holiday season.

Council passes first reading of ordinance amending civil service rules

Emmaus Borough Council passed the first reading of an ordinance amending the civil service rules and regulations at the Feb. 19 meeting.

According to council, the proposed ordinance will implement a regimented promotion process and create safeguards in the selection process, including the implementation of polygraph tests.

Solicitor Jeffery Dimmich said the ordinance will bring the borough's selection process in line with current laws and civil service standards.
