Bucks Playhouse gets back in the act

Nothing says summer theater like Bucks County Playhouse.

And nothing says Bucks County Playhouse like the Straw Hat Circuit.

Bucks County Playhouse, New Hope, was one of the stops on a circuit that stretched from the Mid-Atlantic to Maine.

It included Woodstock Playhouse, Woodstock, N.Y.; Westport Country Playhouse, Westport, Conn.; Ogunquit Playhouse, Ogunquit, Me.; and Cape Cod Playhouse, Dennis, Cape Cod, Mass.

Starting next month, the nonprofit Appalachian Fiddle and Bluegrass Association's (AFBA) monthly shindigs move to the Fowler Blast Furnace Room, ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem.

Performing at the first event Sept. 9 will be Louie Setzer and the Appalachian Mountain Boys, Hillbilly Souls and Hub Hollow, and several regular supporting bands.

The 2012 Great Allentown Fair, Aug. 28 - Sept. 3, celebrates its 160th year.

That's when the Allentown Fair began.
