Upper Milford Township is updating emergency plan

Upper Milford Township supervisors are looking for input into updating the township's emergency management plan, especially in the wake of the extended power outage after Hurricane Sandy. Do you want more information? Would you like to help out? Then come to a meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 at the township building to discuss emergency management plans. The public is invited.

There will be egg decorating 9 a.m. March 30 at Macungie Memorial Park.

Easter Bunny photos will be taken 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 30 at the Macungie Flower Park. The event is sponsored by the Town Beautification Committee.

There will be an Easter egg hunt 2 p.m. March 31 at Macungie Memorial Park.

Grace Lutheran Church will hold Wednesday evening Lenten Worship services 7 p.m.

The Emmaus Lions Club is holding its 5th annual "Nite at the Races" March 9 at Upper Milford West District Fire Co., Routes 29 and 100 in Old Zionsville. Doors open at 5 p.m.; first race is 6:30 p.m. Your ticket includes fun, food, drinks (BYOB) and door prizes. Proceeds are used to fund the club's charity projects. Signs of spring are starting to appear. Daylight saving time begins in a few weeks. Easter cards and decorations are available in many stores.

For me one of the first signs of the season's change is the orchid plant on my windowsill. For the past five years, three miniature purple flowers bloom in late February. They are with me until late August when, one by one, the petals fold up and drop off. It's time to rest, to prepare for next year's blooms.

Shrove Tuesday dinner Feb. 12
