Lil' Hornets get sweep of Mountainville

The Hornet 125-pound team shut out the Mountainville Mounties 28-0 to improve to 5-2 on the year and secure a second-place finish in the Colonial Division of the Suburban Youth Football League.

Jake Miller and Noah Breidinger ran for first half touchdowns and Liam Toomey converted both two-point kicks. The defense was strong allowing minimal yardage. Cameron Brooks blocked a Mountainville punt with Harrison Ike taking the ball into the end zone for a score. Corbin Carraghan, Ben Maehrer and Brent Meilinger ran hard with Meilinger getting a second half score.

Mustangs, Lil' Hornets clash in SYFL

Lower Mac and Emmaus had an epic battle at the 125-pound level with the Mustangs coming out on top, 16-6, to win the division title and secure a one seed for the playoffs.

The Mustangs scored early on a 40-yard strike from Stefan Rollins to Drew Dunbar. Chris Smith hit the extra point to give the Mustangs an early 8-0 lead. The Mustangs moved the ball several times deep into Emmaus territory with blocking by Dennis Csensits, Zach Higgins, Josh Gross, Dimitri Anagnostou and Dalton Daddona.

Lil' Hornets buzz past Upper Saucon

The 125-pound Hornet football team defeated the Upper Saucon Storm 19-8 to improve to 4-1 on the season. Alex Soucy and threw first half touchdown passes to Brent Meilinger and Liam Toomey. The ground game was successful with eight running backs getting positive yardage and Corbin Carraghan running for a touchdown. The Hornet defense played a solid game with Ryan Thomas and Ben Maehrer making numerous tackles in the backfield.

Emmaus' SYFL teams all earned victories over Hokendauqua in their season openers over the weekend.

The 80-pound Hornets started their season off on the right track by beating the Hokey Eagles 20-13. Outstanding play by offensive linemen Nick Davidson, Danny Ahne, Jake Fotta, Chase Fotta, Trevor Gitski, Andrew Harmon and David Iobst paved the way for a well-balanced backfield. Austin Schaffer sealed the victory for the Hornets by intercepting an Eagle pass in the closing seconds of the game.
