On Wednesday, some District 11 titles were settled in the Lehigh Valley Press coverage area, while a few more are on the line Thursday night. In football, the action all gets under way this weekend.
In field hockey, the Emmaus Hornets did it again - their 28th straight district title after a 3-1 victory over Stroudsburg Wednesday night.
District 11 announced the times, locations and matchups for the 4A volleyball tournament. The games begin on Saturday morning at four different locations.
Parkland, the top seed, will host the winner of (8) Whitehall vs. (9) Pocono Mountain East, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. The winner takes on the Trojans at 10:30 a.m.
(4) Emmaus will host (5) Pleasant Valley at 10 a.m. and Delaware Valley will host Wyoming Valley West, however no time was announced for this contest.
The Emmaus field hockey team did it again, this time with a come from behind win to capture the East Penn Conference title.
The Hornets and Stroudsburg were scoreless throughout much of the first half before the Mounties Lizzy Cunningham gave her team a 1-0 lead with about 10 minutes left in the first half.
That lead would hold up for the rest of the first half and into this second until the Hornets Kira Koehler tied the game at 1-1, on an assist of Meredith Sholder
The East Penn Conference released their updated playoff schedule on Wednesday with sites and times.
In field hockey, top-seed Emmaus will take on two-seed Stroudsburg at Whitehall High School at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20.
In boys soccer, top-seed Liberty advanced to the finals and will take on third-seeded Stroudsburg which needed OT to knock off Parkland, the two seed, on Tuesday. This game will take place at Nazareth on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m.
The East Penn Conference announced playoff matchups for the 2016 fall sports season on Friday, Oct. 14. Here’s a look:
Three games will take place Saturday, Oct. 15: Whitehall (8) at Emmaus (1) 3:30 p.m.; Easton (5) at Northampton (4), 2 p.m.; Pocono Mt. East (6) at Liberty (3) 3:30 p.m.; Parkland (7) at Stroudsburg (2) 2 p.m.
The semifinals will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 18 with the finals slated for Thursday, Oct. 20.
