Mayors to talk about initiatives

Easton Mayor Sal Panto, Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan, Allentown Mayor Edward Pawlowski and Whitehall Mayor Edward D. Hozza, Jr. will discuss green initiatives and sustainability strategies, 11:30 a.m. March 28, Wood Dining Room, Iacocca Hall, Mountaintop Campus, Lehigh University, Bethlehem.

The session, organized by the Lehigh Valley Branch of the Delaware Valley Green Building Council, will be moderated by Amy Burkett, manager of WLVT-TV and host of the Emmy-nominated series "Tempo in Depth."

Submit poems for Focus section, WDIY

Submissions are now being accepted for the eighth annual award-winning Student Poetry Project.

In celebration of National Poetry Month in April, three poems will be selected in each of the Elementary, Middle School and High School categories and published in the April 24 and 25 Focus section in the Lehigh Valley Press newspapers.

The student whose poem is selected as the best poem in each category may have his or her photo published with the selected poem.

Gardner, an Emmaus High School, Class of '04, graduate, screened seven of her short films Jan. 26 at The Barrister's Club, Allentown. The event was a fundraiser for Gardner's next short, "Paris in Winter," set to lens in March in Montreal, Canada.

Crest to honor David Jaindl

David Jaindl, owner and president of Jaindl Farms, Jaindl Turkey Sales, Jaindl Land Company, and Schantz Orchards, all of Orefield, has been chosen to receive the 2013 Associates Award from the Associates of Cedar Crest College during the Associates Luncheon, noon March 6, Tompkins College Center.

Jaindl served on the Cedar Crest College Board of Trustees 2005 - '10. During his tenure, he participated in the transition from president Dorothy Gulbenkian Blaney to president Carmen Twillie Ambar.

Therese C. Stellmah

of Emmaus

Therese C. Stellmah, 93, of Emmaus, formerly of Baptistown, N.J. and Nazareth, died January 28, 2013. She was the last surviving child of John and Anna Stellmah's 13 children.

She graduated from Frenchtown High School, worked as a secretary for US Bronze in Flemington, N.J. and The Children's Home Society in Trenton, N.J., and was an active member of Our Lady of Victories RC Church, Baptistown, N.J. Upon retirement, she moved to Nazareth, and fully enjoyed her home and parish life at Holy Family RC Church.
