Halloween party for girls and their dads Oct. 8

There will be a father-daughter dance “Halloween Party” for girls enrolled in kindergarten through sixth grade 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Lower Macungie Community Center. To register, call or go to the Lower Macungie Township Community Center 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or call 610-966-6924.

The Lower Macungie Fire Department will hold an open house 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 8 at the fire station at Sauerkraut Lane. There will be information on fire prevention, face painting, fire truck tours, Medevac helicopter tours, food and beverages.

The Lower Macungie Library Book Club will meet 10:30 a.m. Sept. 7 to discuss “The Hollow Ground” by Natalie Harnett. The book for Oct. 5 is “The Nightingale” by Kristen Hannah.

New at the library are museum passes for the Allentown Art Museum, America on Wheels and the Liberty Bell Museum.

Mexican Folkloric Dance Group Xochiquetzal will perform 6 p.m. Aug. 18 at the library. The dance group of six dancers and a singer are led by teacher and director Martha Monroy and strive to preserve the traditions and culture of Mexico.

Wheels of Time Rod and Custom Jamboree Aug. 26 to 28 to host Arthur Fonzerelli

The 38th Annual Wheels of Time Rod and Custom Jamboree will be held Aug. 26 to 28 at Macungie Memorial Park. The event helps support local charities and the scholarship program for local automotive technology graduates. Over 1,500 custom cars and street rods from all over the east coast will be on display.

The Lower Macungie Pool is open noon to 8 p.m. daily. The pool will close 4:45 p.m. June 16, 20 and 27 and July 18 for swim meets. A summer kickoff party is planned 1 to 5 p.m. June 26 with a DJ from Bar None Entertainment playing tunes 1 to 3 p.m. and a mermaid visit 3 to 5 p.m. There will be a DJ Pool Party with Wesley Works 5 to 7 p.m. July 15. Registration for Lower Macungie Township Pool swim lessons can be made by contacting the Lower Macungie Township Community Center 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Memorial Day program to honor veterans May 30

The Lower Macungie Historical Society and the Lower Macungie Garden Club will hold a short service to honor veterans 9 a.m. May 30 at the memorial in Wescosville Park on Hamilton Boulevard.

The Lower Macungie Pool will open for the season May 28. On May 28 to 30 and June 4 and 5, the pool will be open noon to 8 p.m. Starting June 11, the pool will be open daily noon to 8 p.m. The pool will close 4:45 p.m. June 16, 20 and 27 and July 18 for swim meets.
