Cherries, Chocolate and Jazz at Lower Macungie Township Library

There will be a “Cherries, Chocolate and Jazz” event 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 25 (snowdate Feb. 26) at the Lower Macungie Township Library. Appetizers, desserts and beverages will be provided with music by the Kutztown University Jazz Quartet. Tickets (adults only) can be purchased online at lowermaclib.org, at the library, or by mailing a check payable to Lower Macungie Library, 3450 Brookside Road, Macungie, 18062. Tickets are not available at the door. Proceeds benefit the library.

Parkland Art League to meet Feb. 14

The Parkland Art League will hold its next meeting at the Macungie Institute 7 p.m. Feb. 14 with artist Lee Baldwin demonstrating in watercolors.

The next bus trips to Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs are scheduled March 20 and April 17. Call the park at 610-966-4289 to reserve a seat.

ARCH of the Lehigh Valley will hold a benefit bingo 1:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at Macungie Memorial Park. Prizes include bags, baskets, purses and jewelry. Doors open noon. For more information, email urenkor@elwyn.org or call 610-573-2500.

Support the Emmaus High School orchestra Jan. 20

The Emmaus High School orchestra will host a coffeehouse 7 p.m. Jan. 20 in the cafeteria. A wide variety of musical entertainment will be provided by the students. Coffee, hot chocolate and desserts will be available for purchase. There is a cover charge. All proceeds benefit the orchestra department. The snow date is Feb. 3.

Craft/vendor fair Nov. 19 at Lower Macungie Township Community Center

The eighth annual craft/vendor fair will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center. Over 100 crafters and vendors will be participating. Brookside Deli will offer lunch 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Lunch can be purchased 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A free shuttle from the parking lot to the door is available.

Cast your vote on election day Nov. 8

Nov. 8 is Election Day. Don’t forget to exercise your right and responsibility to vote.

The Macungie curbside leaf collection will take place weekly during the month of November. Residents should rake their leaves to the curb by 7 a.m. Leaves can also be taken to the borough garage on South Church Street.

The Parkland Art League will hold its meeting 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Macungie Institute, 510 E. Main St. Internationally known artist Hong Tatt Foo will be the guest demonstrator for the meeting.

Halloween fun planned at the library Oct. 29

Back by popular demand, local author Charlie Adams will present an evening of spectacular ghost stories 7:13 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Lower Macungie Township Library.

There will be Halloween Fun with “Jack” the Mack Truck 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 29 outside the library, weather permitting. There will be trunk or treating and photo opportunities. A special Halloween storytime will be held in the library 10:30 a.m.

Library League – a monthly program for students in third to fifth grades meets 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24. The program includes a story, exploration and problem-solving.

Macungie Minstrelaires present ‘Lyrics and Laughter’

The Macungie Minstrelaires will present “Lyrics and Laughter” at Lower Macungie Middle School 8 p.m. Oct. 21, 22 and Oct. 28 and 29. Matinees are 2 p.m. Oct. 22 and 29. The Parkland Art League will meet at its new location 7 p.m. at the Macungie Institute, 510 E. Main St, Macungie. Anyone with an interest in art is invited to attend a demonstration in oil by Bethlehem artist Sandra Corpora. Refreshments will be served.

Halloween party for girls and their dads Oct. 8

There will be a father-daughter dance “Halloween Party” for girls enrolled in kindergarten through sixth grade 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Lower Macungie Community Center. The Lower Macungie Fire Department will hold an open house 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 8 at the fire station at Sauerkraut Lane. There will be information on fire prevention, face painting, fire truck tours, Medevac helicopter tours, food and beverages.

The Macungie Farmers Market, located in Macungie Memorial Park, is open 4 to 7 p.m. every Thursday through October. The market features local family farmers providing homegrown food: fruits, vegetables, meat products, eggs, baked goods, plants and more. Parking is available at the park parking lot and along North Walnut Street.
