The 29-acre zoo, located inside the 1,100-acre Trexler Nature Preserve, offers a safe and engaging wildlife experience for all ages who can get up close and personal with animals from around the world.

The 1989 film “Say Anything” set the standard for teenage romance comedies for decades to come. Every high school girl wished for her crush to stand outside her window, serenading her with a boom box. Every boy wanted to be Lloyd, who gets his dream girl.

John Cusack, who played Lloyd, the “every-boy” who gets the girl in “Say Anything,” has built a respected career as an actor, film producer and screenwriter with films such as “High Fidelity” (2000) “Being John Malkovich” (1999), “Grosse Pointe Blank” (1997) and “Serendipity” (2001).

In concert, The Offspring just wants to have fun

The Offspring,1990s’ pop-punk hit-makers, bring their “Never-Ending Summer” tour to the Great Allentown Fair Aug. 29. The concert, which includes Gym Class Heroes, starts at 7 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Grandstand.

The tour features another popular alt-pop 1990s’ band, 311, as co-headliner. The Offspring has released a limited edition vinyl release of the group’s cover version of the 311 song “Down” to coincide with the co-headlining tour.

“Touring with 311 is something we have done before,” says Kevin “Noodles” Wasserman, guitarist for The Offspring, in a phone interview.

Dance ‘Crazy’ at Playhouse

Who could ask for anything more?”

Most everyone can hum the tune, but not many know it’s source.

You can see the full song and dance in “Crazy for You,” with classic Gershwin music, which takes the stage July 27, 28 and Aug. 3-5 and Aug. 9-12, at the Pennsylvania Playhouse, Bethlehem.

“Crazy for You” is the tap-dancing filled tale of a stage-struck New Yorker who falls for a gal he should not get close to. The musical has had audiences dancing in their seats since its debut on Broadway in 1992.

‘Shakespeare 4 K’ in 10th year at PSF

“Who better to introduce kids to Shakespeare than the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival?”

That was the thought of Erin Sheffield more than a decade ago when she was Education Director of the celebrated summer theater festival at DeSales University, Center Valley.

This year, “Shakespeare for Kids” is celebrating its 10th anniversary of making Shakespeare accessible for children.

“Shakespeare for Kids” runs July 25 through Aug. 4 on the main stage in the Labuda Center for the Performing Arts.

Frankie Grande, of Broadway, television and social media fame, stars in the Muhlenberg Summer Music Theatre (MSMT) production of the classic Broadway musical, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” July 11 - July 29, Baker Theater, Trexler Pavilion for Theatre and Dance, Muhlenberg College, Allentown.

“I wanted to study biology and theater and dance and that was impossible at every other college,” says Grande, a Muhlenberg College graduate, Class of 2005, who triple-majored in biology, theater and dance.

Camp introduces children to the arts

The 20th annual City Arts Camp returns June 25 and runs through June 29 in Allentown.

The camp, a collaborative project of the Allentown Art Museum, Allentown Symphony Association, The Baum School of Art, Civic Theatre of Allentown, Community Music School, and Repertory Dance Theatre, allows campers to learn about the arts while participating in activities and classes run by the Allentown arts nonprofits.

The camp is for children from ages 7 to 11 and is held 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. each day.
