Student honored by Girl Scouts

Erin Vermeulen, senior director of Girl Experience for Girls Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, recently visited Charter Arts to recognize a student, Crystal Levene, of Macungie, for her outstanding cookie sales and leadership.

Charter Arts administrators and Levene’s parents were also present for this special moment.

Crystal has been in Girl Scouts since she was in kindergarten and began selling cookies in first grade. According to her mom, Michelle, Crystal sold 500 boxes her first year, and then sold more than 1,000 boxes per year after that. Her cookie-selling skills have helped her troop do things like attend a Phantoms game, visit Washington D.C., visit the Baltimore Aquarium, visit New York City and take a trip to Mexico. All of these trips have either been free or had a limited fee for her fellow Scouts because of Crystal’s cookie sales. After graduation from Charter Arts, Crystal will attend Cedar Crest College for nursing.

Vermeulen recognized Crystal as a “Girl Scout ‘go-getter’ who is an innovator, risk-taker and leader.”
