Innovator/STEAM grants awarded

The East Penn School District Education Foundation recently awarded 14 grants to educators in East Penn School District schools.

Many East Penn educators submitted detailed grant proposals outlining STEAM ideas for their classrooms. Grant proposals were evaluated in areas of innovation, impact, sustainability, and overall alignment with the foundation’s STEAM focus.

Fourteen grants totaling $14,500 will be funded.

Winners of the 2018-2019 East Penn School District Education Foundation Innovator Grants include:

•$3,000 awarded to Zach LaBar, Mike Mihalik K. Kneller, K. Susens, R. Baxter, B. Luancing, C. Wilson for “GSI Vertical Farm Wall” at Emmaus High School

•$2,000 awarded to Ed Anthony for “Robotics with Dobotics”at Emmaus High School

•$1,000 awarded to Chris Stutchko for “The 9th Grade Experience” at Emmaus High School

•$1,000 awarded to Laura Leiby for “Physics Lab” at Emmaus High School

•$1,000 awarded to Kimberly Adams for “The Engineering Brain” at Emmaus High School

•$1,000 awarded to Katie Pfenninger for “Social Assistance Through Art” at Emmaus High School

•$1,000 awarded to Frank Meyers for “3D Printing in 2nd Grade” at Willow Lane Elementary School

•$1,000 awarded to Patrice Arnold for “STEAM Grant” at Shoemaker Elementary School

•$1,000 awarded to Anne Kukitz and Nicole Gillen for “Signature Inspirations” at Eyer Middle School

•$500 awarded to Gail Cannon for “OSMO” at Alburtis Elementary School

•$500 awarded to Francine Confer for “Problem Solving Through Play” at Alburtis Elementary School

•$500 awarded to Kendy Schiffert for “Tinker Boxes for a Soft Landing” at Wescosville Elementary School

•$500 awarded to Caitlin Shutte for “OZOBot Mazes” at Macungie Elementary School

•$500 awarded to Tracy Urban for “Building More Than Stories” at Eyer Middle School.
