The Emmaus High School golf team is off to an 11-0 start to the season, picking up its first nine wins over a three-day stretch to start the season.

The Hornets opened the season with a 3-0 effort at an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference quad match. Emmaus scored 410 to beat Central Catholic (457), East Stroudsburg South (591) and Freedom (474) back on Aug. 20 at Brookside Country Club.

A day later the Hornets traveled to Buck Hill Golf Club and earned three more victories. The Hornets came in at 387 to earn wins over East Stroudsburg North (700), Pocono Mountain East (497) and Nazareth (439)

On Aug. 23, Emmaus shot 376 as a team to sweep Whitehall (465), Easton (456) and Bethlehem Catholic (459) at Allentown Municipal. Sophomore Michelle Cox led the team with a 3-under par 69.

Aiden LeBlanc (73), Luke Lanzone (75) and Nathan Seidel (79) all broke 80 for the Hornets, while Mitch Machulsky and Matthew Zerfass both carded 80, with either player’s score used as the fifth spot in the team match.

The Hornets picked up dual-match wins over Stroudsburg (394-476 at Brookside on Aug. 28) and Liberty (384-400 at Bethlehem Municipal Aug. 30) to get to 11-0

Emmaus headed into Labor Day Weekend tied for first place in the EPC with Northampton (11-1) and just ahead of Parkland (11-1). The Trojans only loss came by one point against Northampton at the Konkrete Kids’ home course (Woodstone).

The Hornets’ upcoming matches against those two teams could determine this year’s regular season EPC champ.

Emmaus will take on the Kids at Woodstone on Sept. 13 and face Parkland Sept. 18 at Brookside.
