of Emmaus

S. Theodore Furr (Ted), 79, of Emmaus, died Aug. 2, 2018, at Lehigh Valley Hospice. He was the husband of Lynn Furr. They were married for 54 years. He was born in Santa Monica, Calif.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Occidental College in Los Angeles and his master’s in metallurgical engineering from the California Institute of Technology.

He moved from California to Emmaus in 1964 to become a research engineer for Bethlehem Steel, Homer Research Laboratories.

He spent his retirement playing tennis at Oakmont Tennis Club, serving on the board of the Shelter House, Emmaus and volunteering at the Emmaus Public Library.

He and his wife spent their winters in Palm Springs, Calif.

He is survived by his wife; children, Kathy and her husband Tim Hall, of Gaithersburg, Md.; Gregory and his wife Kayoko Kashio. of San Francisco, Calif. and Jeffrey, of Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
