Donald E. Eitner, 97, of Wescosville, died July 31, 2018, in his home. He and his wife, Mary Jane (Hauser) Eitner, were married for 36 years until her death on June 23, 1984. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Howard J. and Marion (Templin) Eitner and was very close to his late grandmother, Lillian Templin.

He was a graduate of Allentown High School and Allentown Business College.

He was a World War II veteran and served with the 8th Air Force in the European Theater of Operations.

Prior to retiring in 1983, he worked as controller at the former Ace Hotel and Bar Supply Co., Inc. for 30 years. Previously, he was employed in the accounting department of Mack Trucks, Inc.

He was a member of Nativity Lutheran Church, Allentown.

He was very active in the swimming programs at the YM/YWCA, serving on its aquatic committee for many years. He was also treasurer of Trident Swim Club and officiated many meets throughout the area.

He loved attending all Emmaus sporting events of his grandchildren, visiting Wildwood, N.J. and his beagle, Dusty.

He is survived by his companion of 34 years, Phyllis K. Balliet; daughters, Nancy J. Grosman, Patricia A. and her husband, Clarence Reichard III; grandchildren, Melissa D., Jared D. and Ashley E. Grosman; sister-in-law, Marilyn; cousin, Richard Egge and his wife, Marion. He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth.
