Eleanor E. Stephens, 92, died Feb. 11, 2018. She was the wife of the late Ellis H. Stephens, who died Dec. 16, 2003. They were married for 57 years. Born and raised in Delaware Water Gap, Monroe County, she was the daughter of the late Clayton K. Bush and Annabelle (Frutchey) Bush.

She attended Smithfield Elementary School and Stroudsburg High School. She moved to her home in the East Texas area after she married.

She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and was employed in the dressmaking industry for 30 years, both in the Allentown and Emmaus area. She was a zipper setter. She retired in 1984 but continued to do sewing and alterations in her home. Her specialty was working on wedding gowns and making dresses from patterns.

She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Macungie.

In her spare time she loved gardening, baking and cooking. She was an avid book reader and particularly enjoyed crocheting and knitting afghans. She loved to watch NASCAR races on television and Jeff Gordon was her favorite driver.

She is survived by a son, Ellis S. (Colleen), of Peotone, Ill.; grandsons, Derek, of Hammond, Ind. and Christopher (Tabitha), of Frankfort, Ill.; granddaughter, Danielle, of Chicago, Ill.; numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two sisters and four brothers.

Arrangements were made by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
