David J. Jones
Dr. David J. Jones, 91, of Macungie, died Dec. 25, 2017, in York after a full day spent with his wife, Joan E. Jones, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born in Shamokin, he was the son of the late Frederick Arthur Jones and Margaret May (Fitzpatrick) Jones.
He graduated from Shamokin High School where he lettered in wrestling and football. In April of 1944, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. Discharged honorably from the Corps in 1946, he worked for a time in his grandfather’s moving and storage business. When war broke out in Korea, he was called up by the Marines in 1950, achieving the rank of sergeant. After the war, he sold insurance in Mount Carmel and Altoona, then entered the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, graduating in 1967. He operated a private practice of chiropractic medicine in Center Valley from 1968 to 1991.
He was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, the American Legion and Masonic Lodge 469 of Center Valley. He was a 32nd degree Mason.
He is survived by his wife; children, Jeff and Cindy Lobach; grandchildren Bill and Robin Tridico, David and Tom Lobach, and Stephen and Kelsey Hanzlik, Alan and Shao Ling Wang; great-granddaughters, Sophie and Emma Tridico and Christine Wang; sister, Margaret Zerbe and children by a previous marriage, Christopher, Richard Michael, Scott, Laurie and Dauvey. He was predeceased by a brother, Dr. Frederick and his stepson, Stephen J. Hanzlik.
