Middle quarters doom EHS girls in loss to LC

The Emmaus girls basketball competed in the Shamrock Showcase at Trinity High School in Camp Hill.

The Hornets opened the tournament Friday with a 57-21 loss to Lancaster Catholic and had their second game of the tournament postponed because of weather.

Emmaus held a 7-4 lead over Lancaster Catholic after one period, but after getting shut out 19-0 in the second quarter and out-scored 17-2 in the third quarter.

The Hornets were led by Megan Navitsky with six points in the loss. The Crusaders were led by Kiki Jefferson with 16 points.

The Hornets enter 2018 at 2-5 overall with a 1-3 record in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, which includes losses to some of the leagues’ top teams in Northampton, Central Catholic and Parkland. They will get back on the court Wednesday evening when they host Whitehall (1-5).
