Air Force veteran of Korean War

Frederick H. Bernecker Jr., 83, of Macungie, died Oct. 6, 2017, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Betty Frances (Joyner) Bernecker. They were married for 61 years, 8 months. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Frederick H. “Fritz” Bernecker Sr. and the late Theresa “Tess” (Mirth) Bernecker.

He was a roofer with Roofers Local #30, for 45 years until retiring.

He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member and past commander of the Howard L. Peter American Legion Post #576, Allentown.

He is survived by his wife; son, William H. and his wife Jody, of Northampton; daughters, Tami T. Molder, of Macungie and Sally Ann and her husband Richard Hanzlik, of Whitehall; brother, Richard A., of Allentown; niece, Michele Moyer; grandchildren, Frederick, Elissa, Katie (Carl), Allison (Benjamin), Nicholas, Neil and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Eva-Jewel, Virgil, Carmella, Ezekiel and Ebonee.

Contributions may be made in his name to Lehigh Valley Hospice, 2024 Lehigh St., Allentown, 18103.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held 11 a.m. Oct. 12 at the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, 1441 Roth Ave., Allentown. Arrangements were made by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
