of Macungie

Ernest M. Spinelli, of Macungie, died peacefully Aug. 30, 2017. He was the husband of Lois Spinelli. Born in Elizabeth Township, he was the son of the late Etecleo and Rafaella Gallo Spinelli, and grew up in McKeesport.

He served in the U.S. Army for many years, including serving in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, then retiring as a CW3 in 1995.

He was a very successful businessman, starting Biological Specialty Corporation alongside his wife, Lois, in 1980. He enjoyed the day to day operations of their business but also found time to do other things he loved such as watching football, playing cards, traveling, golfing and spending time with his family and friends.

He rarely missed reading the daily paper and enjoyed breakfast at a local diner! He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and got immense joy from watching his grandchildren participate in sports and activities.

He is survived by his wife; children, Mario (Alison), Michele (Chris Currier), and Denise White (James Waldeck); stepchildren, Aileen Widdoss (Jeff) and Thomas Olsen (Sandy); grandchildren, Tina, Trisha, Donny, Taylor, Rebecca, Cameron and Laurel; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Audrey, Jacob and Julia. He was predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters and stepdaughter, Victoria Olsen.

Arrangements were made by the Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., Allentown.
