Hornets compete in track and field championships
Emmaus track and field athletes competed in last weekend's PIAA Championship Meet at Shippensburg University's Seth Grove Stadium.
The Hornets' Hanna Brosky brought home a medal after taking fifth place in the 400-meter dash. The senior won her heat with a time of 56.62 last Friday. She came back to run Saturday's final in 56.85 for fifth place.
Brosky also competed in the 800-meter run. She ran to 12th place in her heat with a time of 2:31.13, which was a few places short of making the finals.
Emmaus' Scott Schlegel came one place away from earning a medal, which go to the top eight finishers in each event.
Schlegel tied for ninth place in the high jump at six feet, four inches.
Maria Justus competed in two events at states. She took 16th place in the long jump at 17-8. She also ran teh 100-meter hurdles, finishing sixth in her heat with a time of 15.71.
Emmaus also sent two relay teams to states.
The boys 4x800 took 12th place in its heat with a time of 8:15.87. The girls 4x800 placed 15th in a heat with a time of 10:34.94.
