State's 87th season: Wanda Sykes, above, kicks off the 87th season of the State Theatre, 453 Northampton St., Easton, at 8 p.m. Sept. 21. Sykes has appeared on the Comedy Central show, "Wanda Does It," where she tried various non-show business jobs; an HBO stand-up special, "I'm A Be Me," in 2009; her first HBO comedy special, "Sick & Tired," nominated for a 2007 Primetime Emmy; "The Wanda Sykes Show," on Fox, and as Barb on "The New Adventures of Old Christine," on CBS. Sykes was in the feature films "Evan Almighty," sequel to "Bruce Almighty," with Steve Carell; "Monster-In-Law," opposite Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda; "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," with Luke Wilson and Uma Thurman, and was a voice talent for the animated features, "Over The Hedge," for Dreamworks, and "The Barnyard," for Paramount Pictures. Keep on Trucks on: The tour by the Tedeschi Trucks Band, with a concert, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18, Miller Symphony Hall, 23 N. Sixth St., Allentown, has quite an itinerary, to name a few: Las Vegas, New York City (Beacon Theatre), New Orleans, Los Angeles (Orpheum), San Francisco (Bill Graham Civic Auditorium) London (Royal Albert Hall) and Paris. The Grammy-winning, 11-member blues-rock group led by husband-wife team Derek Trucks, above, left, and Susan Tedeschi, above, right, will play tunes from "Made Up Mind," released Aug. 20 on Sony Masterworks. Critics have called the group's concerts "jaw-dropping," "joyous," "roaring" and "transcendent." Songs include "Love Has Something Else To Say," "Learn How To Love," "Swamp Raga," "Little Martha" and "Midnight in Harlem." Opening the concert is The London Souls.
