Brian Higgins to run for L. Macungie Board of Commissioners
Brian Higgins, community volunteer and pharmaceutical sales executive, has announced his intention to run for commissioner of Lower Macungie Township.
A nine-year resident of Lower Macungie, Higgins is a husband and father of three boys. A graduate of Monmouth University, he offers the citizens more than 18 years of business experience in the private sector and a wealth of local knowledge acquired during his countless hours of service to the community, which include three years as president of the Lower Macungie Youth Association.
"Lower Macungie is starving for leaders that are interested in putting the needs of the citizens ahead of their own. Unfortunately, over the past four years our elected officials have failed to do just that. The consistent practice of excluding citizens whose ideas differ from those in power must end. Lower Macungie needs to be a community of inclusion for all. In addition, honesty and integrity must be restored to the board of commissioners through the practice of transparency in government. I will proactively seek out the needs of the public and not adopt the 'reactive' approach now in use."
His dedication and commitment to Lower Macungie Township has also resulted in his endorsement by three local, non-partisan organizations, Lower Macungie Township Citizens for Change, Friends for the Protection of LMT and Citizens for Strong Communities who each value honesty, transparency and fiscal responsibility in their endorsed candidates.
Higgins makes this announcement after having spent the past seven years interacting with thousands of constituents who are tired of the failures in their local government. He is committed to continuing to listen to everyone and to help enact change in this new role.
