Lil' Hornets continue to strong play

The Emmaus Lil' Hornets continued their stellar play in SYFL action, picking up wins at the 125-, 110- and 95-pound levels.

The 125-pound Emmaus team celebrated a 44-0 win over Hokey to go to 3-0 on the season. Running touchdowns were scored by Brent Meilinger, Jake Miller, Giuseppe Carbone and Ben Maehrer. Quarterback Alex Soucy threw a touchdown pass to Brent Meilinger. The Hornets also had three interceptions by Corbin Carraghan, Brent Meilinger and Harrison Ike, who returned his for a score. Emmaus also blocked a punt and Nick Martellucci recovered the block for a touchdown. The defense also had multiple sacks by Noah Breidinger, Ben Maehrer and Jake Miller.

On their Celebration Day at Emmaus Community Park, the 110-pound team celebrated a win against South Parkland B. Kamron Bertie and Anthony "AJ" Walker led the blocking attack, which opened holes for touchdown runs by Isaiah Serrano, Jackson Karrat, Deonte Castro and Jude Negron. The celebration continued as the Hornet's defense, which included kicker Justin Rousenberger and Jared Green, dominated the Trojans offense with strong tackles throughout the game. Emmaus rolled to a 28-6 win and moved to 3-0 on the year.

The 95s improved their season record to 3-0 with a 30-0 win over the South Parkland Trojans. The offense was led by the stellar play of the interior five of Cooper Schoenly, Aydan Kirby, Tistan Francis, Gannon DeFrain and David Cobb. Their blocking opened huge holes, putting the running backs in the position to gain positive yards. Nick Blose was a surprising piece of ammunition in the arsenal. The defense had a combined 38 tackles and the corners, Blake Marushak and Cody LaFaver, contained the outside and made it difficult for the Trojans to gain any positive yards.

The flag team also had a strong outting. The Hornet offensive line Gavin Toman, Zack Blose, Josiah Williams, Liam Kennedy, Jonah Miller, Nick Zernhelt and Chad Kauffman did a tremendous job blocking, which allowed Aaron Watkins and Mason Uyvari to both gain 25 yards on the ground. The tremendous effort put forth by the Hornet defense made it possible for Emmaus to hold South Parkland to just two touchdowns.
