Overturned gasoline tanker closes road

Wednesday, August 15, 2012 by The Press in Local News

Firefighters from Lower Macungie and Macungie fire departments work to clean the scene of an overturned gasoline truck on Mountain Road in Lower Macungie Township Aug. 10. The original call was received shortly before 9 a.m. for an overturned gasoline truck blocking both lanes of Mountain Road just past Gehman Road. Spill response units were called to the scene and determined they needed to drill a hole on the tank to remove the fuel before they could attempt to upright the truck. Fire crews from Lower Macungie Fire Department brought their foam unit and applied a layer of foam around the truck prior to any drilling or offloading of fuel. Sections of Mountain Road and Gehman Road were closed while emergency units worked to remove the truck.
